Beth Polo, Wearing the World LLC, is a new member of the Arkansas Craft Guild. She's from Pencil Bluff and her raw unpolished Quartz crystals are sourced in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas in creating her wire-wrapped jewelry. Every piece is carefully hand crafted together with loving intention.
Since moving to the natural state more than 40 years ago, Beth has been attracted to the beauty of Arkansas' forests, rivers, and rock formations. Always fascinated by the recurring theme of spirals and helices in nature, she now hand twists wire to form intricate spirals and fanciful shapes that embellish and complement the beauty of each natural stone from Arkansas and around the world. "My major concern when working with a stone is to leave as much of the natural stone uncovered and visible, while ensuring it is in a stable foundation of wire that is pleasing in design to the eye."

"I actually began my interest in jewelry while hosting a party for my sisters. I bought chip beads and findings and we had fun making earrings and bracelets. After that I never stopped creating jewelry. I stumbled upon a video on wire wrapping on YouTube, began practicing and really got hooked. I met my mentor, Lynuel Newton, now 93, and begged for a lesson, as I fell in love with his wire wrapped rings. I learned from him even though I did not carry on making wire rings."

"I have no formal education in art. I have been a registered dietitian with a specialty in diabetes education since graduating with a BS in nutrition. Nutrition education is quite creative as the same information is taught to multiple individuals, but how I teach changes based on an individual's learning style and readiness to learn."
Creating jewelry provides Beth frequent opportunities to meet individuals from many countries. While hand picking the stones for her unique designs, she enjoys learning about the customs, politics, and families of her new international friends who travel far to bring the stones for Beth to buy. On a local level, Beth intentionally uses natural Arkansas quartz crystal often in her jewelry. She creates custom jewelry for customers and pictures minerals and stones on her website for customers to choose a beautiful central stone.

Beth is grateful for those who are helping support her dream of a sustainable rural lifestyle by creating wearable art.
Beth's jewelry is now available for purchase in the Guild's Gallery at 104 E Main, Mountain View. Visit the Gallery page here on this website, or keep up to date on the Gallery's page on Facebook.
