I learned my art as a hobby, took art in college, but not towards a degree in art. I took instruction from Dana Johnson in her studio. I've taken workshops locally from various artists, some of whom have international acclaim. Carole Jones was also my teacher in her studio, and a member of the Guild. She recommended that I take lessons from Jerry Preator, prominent artist from Mountain Home, AR. I am still learning my craft. From Jerry I'm learning to focus more on the subject and less on the background, take a more impressionistic look at life subjects. I work from my own photographs and if it was copyrighted it was changed in at least 3 ways. I put the painting together based on the golden mean. I am still a working person and my art is a release from the work I do on the busy days.
I've painted birds on clear ornaments and have created greeting cards with them. I have worked in graphite for many years, and do portraits in pencil, doing several commissions. I am a featured artist during the Art Odessey tour in and around Mountain Home the end of October. My art has been featured on several covers of the Baxter County Fair catalogs.
