Doris Fountain grew up out in the country of north Arkansas where she still lives. "We all loved to make things out of Nature. One of my grandmothers was a flower maker and basket weaver. The other grew flowers and herbs. I spent most of my childhood learning from them. They taught me how to weave baskets and make dolls from rocks and sticks using scraps of material for the dresses. From there I started my own creations through experimentation. I started my Northwoods Primitive Folk Art 30 years ago with antique quilted teddy bears. It quickly evolved into primitive Santas, snowmen, chenille pumpkins and much more."
