Marchand, Christy

Stained glass artist Christy Marchand can’t remember a time when she wasn’t compelled to create. After enjoying a variety of mediums over the years, she found her passion in stained glass. She is most inspired by whimsy and humor and likes to create playful art and gift items for the home and garden for every budget. Primarily using the copper foil technique, she creates traditional zinc framed panels as well as free form pieces. Glass provides an abundance of color, and the variety in the texture of glass provides a wealth of choice, and as if that isn’t enough for fun, Christy often embellishes her work with various mixed media components, including copper wire, silver plate, vintage china, beads, gems, bevels and decorative soldering. After raising a family and retiring from a career in state government in her hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she and her husband relocated to the wooded foothills of northern Arkansas in 2010. When she’s not in her studio, Christy and her husband, the Vice President of Logistics and Quality Control, and their two dogs are on the road, participating in art festivals around the South and Midwest, including EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival.
