Nancy’s images are photographs, not paintings. The effect is achieved by using a film that has a soft emulsion. While the film is developing, but before it has time to set up, she physically pushes the emulsion around, much as you would use a paint and brush. Using a variety of tools, the emulsion is moved around until the desired effect is achieved. This method is called photo impressionism.
