I started working in clay in the fourth grade. At that time I created mythological beasts and dinosaurs out of the clay in our back yard. I have hand built my projects for most of my life. While studying at SIVE I fell in love with throwing and altering my clay projects. Now I build, throw, throw and alter, and produce projects with a combination of these techniques. I still enjoy creating pieces that border between the man made world and the natural world. Some of my pieces have anthropomorphic references. As you view, especially the embedded pieces, I am sure you can see the influences my archeological background has had on me.
