Janice Paine Dawes

I am a textile and mixed media artist living in Mountain Home with my retired Army husband and two small spoiled dogs.

I began my career as a painter. I graduated from being only a painter to using painterly techniques in my creative tool box for producing innovative fiber and mixed media art. My tool box overflows with techniques using reclaimed fabrics, found objects, paint, stitch and discovering ways to manipulate those elements for desired results.

Reclaiming fabric to give it a second life is a passion of mine. I may renew with natural dyes, including indigo which I grow in my backyard, or ecoprint it. If it is wool, I may felt it as well as overdye it. It may become a one-of-a-kind purse, scarf, wall art or other home decor.

I regularly exhibit in museums and galleries with work appearing from Birmingham, England to both coasts of the US. My fiber art can be found in private and corporate collections, magazines and hardcover publications. A partial list of publications can be found on my website at http://janicepainedawes.com
