Bio:As one of the first cultivated plants the hard shelled gourd has been used by every culture in the temperate and tropic zones around the world. They have a very rich history with such uses as containers, vessels, masks,musical instruments and currency. The gourd has been described as Mother Nature's canvas and challenges the artist on many levels. Now often purely an art form the gourd can be intricately cut, painted, embellished, wood burned, carved and much more. Challenged by the possibilities I joined a world of passionately addicted "gourders" over 15 years ago. Around the world there are societies and festivals devoted to the humble gourd. Presently I give gourd art workshops & demonstrations and create art work for galleries and gift shops. I feel I have only scratched the surface.
